Piemme Electric Motors
technical details
Piemme electric motors are of the single-phase and three-phase induction type, with squirrel cage rotor, closed construction, external ventilation and are available from MEC 63 to MEC 132 sizes.
INPUT VOLTAGE AND FREQUENCY
Normally, the single-phase motors of our production are wound for operating under the voltage of
230V (50Hz), whereas the three-phase motors are wound for operating at 230/400V (50Hz). The motors
can be wound for various voltages and/or frequencies upon specific request. On the input voltage a
variation of ±5% is permitted with a maximum temperature increase of 10°C.

WINDING
The windings are carried out using F thermal class insulating
materials (tmax=155°C) and insulated copper wire wound with H
class (tmax=200°C) double enamelling. Appropriate epoxide resins
are used for the capillary impregnation of the wound stator.
Thanks
to the impregnation and to the insulating materials the motors can
be used in tropical climates, under strong vibration duties and high
thermally changing conditions.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
The motors shown in this catalogue are designed to work at a
maximum environmental temperature of 40°C, at a maximum
altitude of 1000 meters above sea-level and for values of relative
humidity between 30 and 95% (without condensation).
In
conditions different from those named above, the nominal
power varies according to the coefficient of variation indicated
in the table.
Piemme motors are made in accordance to the UNEL standards (13113-71, 13117-71, 13118-71) and fully comply with IEC international standards. They also comply with the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EEC and with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EEC.

FRAMES
Frames are made in die-cast aluminium alloy and are available in the shapes B3, B3/BL and B5.

FLANGES
In die-cast aluminium alloy, available in the shapes B5 and B14. Flanges according to customer's drawings may be manufactured
upon request.
ROTORS
Rotors are of the squirrel cage type, in aluminium or die-cast aluminium alloy and are dynamically balanced.

SHAFTS
Shafts are normally made of C45 carbon steel, but shafts made of stainless steel may be manufactured
upon request.
The usual executions have unified exits and one shaft end only, however it's possible to
realize shafts with double end and shafts according to customer's drawing.
BEARINGS
The bearings fitted on our motors are of the rigid radial type with a single
ring of balls (2Z), prelubricated (with grease for operating temperature
range from -40 e +200 °C) and axially preloaded with compensation rings
to exclude end side clearances. Sealed bearings with increased clearance
(C3) are assembled on request.

FINISHING
Normally, Piemme motors are not painted because some parts are subjected to protective treatments like
shot-blasting.
COOLING
It's carried out by external ventilation provided by a bidirectional fan with radial blades mounted on the shaft,
outside the motor. The air is conveyed by means of a sheet metal fan cover or a nylon fan cover (MEC 71 to MEC
90) produced using our exclusive design.
